Silent Hunter 5 Mega Mod
Silent Hunter 5 Battle of the Atlantic. Silent Hunter is the most award-winning submarine series of all time, with nearly 1.5 million sold copies worldwide. Silent Hunter®: Wolves of the Pacific was voted 2007's 'simulation game of the year' by PC Gamer. Jun 24, 2014 Game Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic; 2010; Category Gaming; Song U 96; Artist Klaus Doldinger; Licensed to YouTube by WMG; LatinAutor, UBEM, LatinAutor - Warner Chappell, Warner Chappell. I think it is a fair statement to make that Silent Hunter 5 comes up very short in quality. The beginnings of a mega mod is available here.
Gonna try Silent Hunter againdownloading the 5 now.Atlantic theater is calling me again between ROF missions. Some good mods to make it really good, it seemsFifi, may I recommend this thread to you:sobers modlist' onclick='window.open(this.href);return false;'Attached you'll find my.mep file, so you can use it with your JSGME to install all mods (in tested order) that I'm currently using. You can edit the file using notepad, if you wish to alter it, of course. Then, inside JSGME, use the 'tasks' option to load it.The game looks like a movie now.1.27KB 4 downloadsCheers. MY unmodded SH4 campaign has hit a hitch. After patrolling off the Philippines, and then photographing carriers in Raboul (scary stuff), I'd been sent to patrol off Palau, which went well enough - found a nice juicy freighter on a perfect intercept, and stuck a couple of stern-tube torpedoes in from close range - kaboom. Finished the patrol, radio'd back status, and got sent to do another photo recon: battleships in Koror harbour - which is on Palau, so I was already almost there.
Snuck in at night, but it was p.ing down with rain, and I couldn't see a thing. I waited 'till dawn, but no luck - still couldn't see anything, except the destroyers which I'd had lurking all night. I crept out submerged, recharged my batteries, and then tried again the following night. Destroyers still there, but no battleships to be seen. Hung around 'till dawn, looked again, and came to the conclusion that they just weren't there. I suppose it's just possible they are still on the way, and the mission generator wasn't expecting me to get there so quickly. I'll pootle around for a few days, then check again - but I may have to write the mission off, and head back to Oz.
I'm sure I'll find something to relieve my frustration on before I get there. I still have 13 torpedoes, and plenty of fuel. SH5 installed on both computers! On my laptop I3, it's running quite good, even though the mouse is a bit laggy. I've played 3, 4, and 5 and can say that unmodded SH5 is crap.
Rather than using actual naval terms for speed such as 'Ahead Full,' they chose to put in commands that I suppose they thought people would understand easier such as 'Ahead Normal' or 'Ahead Fast,' both of which sound stupid. The German crew also speaks English, albeit with a German accent. This is also stupid and gives the game the feel of a cheap WWII movie. They also redesigned the single player career. Instead of the normal 'Patrol sector for 24 hours,' you have 'chapters' in which you have to complete certain objectives in an unlimited number of patrols. For instance. One mission may tell you to sink 100,000 tons of merchant shipping off of the Northern Bristish Coast.
Another mission may be to sneak into Scapa Flow and sink a battleship. Once you've completed these missions, you are free to move on to the next chapters. Sadly, the chapters stop at 1943. With a little modding (or a lot), all of these problems can be changed and you can have a Silent Hunter experience pretty close to 5's predecessors; only with far better graphics. They also redesigned the single player career.

Still nice long hunts. The German crew also speaks English, albeit with a German accent. When installing game, always choose 'custom' instead of 'standard'. You'll have the choice for the voicesThis way crew speaks only German (don't know if it's good german though!

Don't understand a word!)In the minimega-mod or better in the full mega-mod, voices were changed with many additional dialogs and a lot of new sounds. Fantastic for immersion (without joke!)With a little modding (or a lot), all of these problems can be changed and you can have a Silent Hunter experience pretty close to 5's predecessors; only with far better graphics.Tons of mods! Was very surprised!Even only the minimega-mod gave me what i was expecting.
Fast download, fast install with JSGME, and good results.Maybe one day i'll try the full mega, but it's VERY big download and it would take dozens of hours hereTO me, SH5 with mods is a better SH4! With better graphics, realistic sinkings, much more features to work on maps, very good ambiance music with more game sounds, interactive crew and first persone player to move inside and outside the sub!AI boats have been improved too.I used to love SH3, but difference with SH5 is like difference between RB3D and ROF to me.Noway to go backward.
So Fifi, you recommend minimega mod installed with JSME.As well as that, what are the really good ones? There are tons of mods (sorry, french forum - but links are for Subsim in english)):But i found 2 special packs, made of important mods in this list:- A 'small' one fast download called 'Minimega-mod' with enough features for me, you can see it hereand download here:- A huge one, the 'ultimate must have' called 'Megamod', but too long download for me here. Finally dowloaded and installed the Mega-mod for SH5.OMG!! Hey Fifi - I was planning to try the huge mega-mod you mentioned above, but I can't seem to find any way to D/L anything at the links you posted (I see some references to the two parts of the mega-mod, and some are even clickable, but they don't seem to lead to anything that starts any download). What am I doing wrong and/or what should I be looking for on those pages to find the D/L? (and, is the mega-mod from that site a French version or an English one?)EDIT - never mind - I found that I had to register first, before it would let me download. Waiting on clearance from their admins, and then will give this a shot. Thanks for posting the links and the instructions on how to activate. To register on that site I need to answer this questionLe cheval BLANC d'henri IV est t'il BLANC?I tried yes, and then no. Both times it was incorrect.Edit; nvmnd I got it.

I needed to say Oui!More info:SH5 is running with Uplay (like Clod with Steam), but i recommand desabling all the internet connections check boxes to get a full offline game (unless you want play it on MP).This way all missions saves will be made in your computer instead with Uplay.Game start and exit way better, and no fear for lost connections. To desable it, launch game, and in Uplay window clic the 'gear' icon next to your Uplay nickname. You'll find a box to uncheck cloud saves, and a box for offline only. The man who made the Megamod is French (Haddock38 on Mille Sabord forum) but he made a compilation mainly of english moddersIf you look at the names list of the mods (my screen above ) you can type and find them separatly on Subsim forum in english. Most important thing is to put them in this precise order in JSGME to make the game run without trouble/issue.Haddock38 spent huge time in testing them together for avoiding CTDs.Anyway, i just asked Haddock38 if there is an real english version. But not sure it's required even by english nativesI'll tell you when i get an answer back!
